Antique Caucasian rug from the Kuba region in floral lattice pattern set in deep purple field within multiple intricate borders
Late 19th century.
A good Kuba rug with an unusual large-scale lattice design of stylised floral medallions. This style can be traced back to the large floral carpets found in this region during the 17th and 18th centuries. The rug is framed by a number of borders including one with avian and zoomorphic motifs (birds and animals). A wonderful and charismatic rug in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile.
The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
The rug has been hand-washed and is ready for use or display.
