Obruk Cicim (Kilim) (180x130cm)

    Description

This is a very beautiful mid-20th century cicim (kilim) from a town of Obruk in Central Anatolia.

The very unusual aspect of this kilim is the seemingly upside-down presentation of the floral motifs.

There explanations as to the reason for such aesthetic nuance are unclear; perhaps the construction of the loom forces the weaver to leave the fringe at the top of the work.
