    Beautiful late late 19th  century chuval rug attributed to Ersari   tribe from the Aralo-Caspian steppes

    Size: c. 100x140cm

    This is a large chuval ( large tent bag) in zig-zag design often referred to as ‘thunderbolt’ or ‘floating turtles’.  It shows some  wear but also some characteristics of earlier Turkoman pieces

    Origin: Middle Amu Darya, West Turkestan  Last quarter 19th century.
