Description

This attractive rug features a variety of Berber motifs which reflect the typical Zemmour eclecticism.  A relatively short pile is another characteristics of these Middle Atlas rug; another being the typical rich red colour obtained traditionally from cochineal, an insect brought to the Canary Islands from Central America towards the end of the 19th century. The cochineal red in a varied range of tones is in fact a trade mark of the Zemmour weaving arts.
